Lauramidopropyl Betaine, typically abbreviated as LAB or LAPB, is a highly effective amphoteric surfactant. Derived from the natural source of lauric acid, this gentle active ingredient is increasingly being incorporated as an emulsifier, viscosity enhancer, and foaming booster in various cleaning products, personal care formulations, and cosmetic items. Its mild nature makes it particularly suitable for products designed for sensitive care, including baby soaps and shampoos.

Due to its gentle action and excellent compatibility with other surfactants, Lauramidopropyl Betaine has become a preferred choice as a principal or auxiliary surfactant in a vast array of formulations. LAPB can offer strong synergistic effects when combined with other surfactants in formulations, resulting in enhanced viscosity, denser foam, and reduced skin and eye irritation. LAB has better foaming ability than Cocamidopropyl Betaine(CAB).

Comparable to other betaine-based amphoteric surfactants, LAPB possesses substantial anti-microbial properties, demonstrating efficacy against a range of common bacteria and fungi such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans, and Pityrosporum ovale.
