Glycerin has long been the most widely used moisturizing agent in skin care products. It is highly effective and long-acting as a humectant to absorb moisture from the air into the skin stratum corneum and can penetrate deeper skin layers. Compared to its rivals, such as Allantoin, Hydroxyethyl Urea, and Trehalose, Glycerin is usually cheaper and easier to get.
