Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate is an amino acid-based anionic surfactant. It's a mild, safe, and green surfactant derived from glutamic acid (an amino acid from corn fermentation), lauric acid (a fatty acid derived from coconut oil). Like the other amino acid surfactants, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate is an ideal ingredient trending in personal care products. It's non-irritant, non-allergic, non-comedogenic, and resistant to hard water.
Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate is widely used as a primary or secondary anionic surfactant in toothpaste, facial cleansers, shaving creams, ultra-gentle shampoos, and baby bath bubble lotions. It has stable foaming and cleaning ability in a wide pH range. However, it has low degreasing power, which makes it not over-lift the needful oil on the skin, hence leaving the skin a moist and non-tight feeling.
Stable at a wide pH range, except in strong acid and alkali.
